It’s been a little while since my last post. In that time I took something of a break from working on the Spirits Saga manuscript in order to do some more pleasure reading and pursue other creative things for a while. In this past month I’ve read a couple of books of a similar genre aimed at young adult readers. I’ve also started a creative writing group at my workplace. The message that went out announcing the new group had an overwhelming response – perhaps to be expected from a huge publisher. It’s been nice to have creative and immersive Friday lunchtimes again, and I’ve managed to get some short stories down to keep sharp.
In four days time July, Camp NaNoWriMo starts up and I’m ready to do it all over again! Now that I’ve had a breather my goal is to complete the first draft of the Spirits Saga manuscript. I’m just shy of 30,000 words at the moment and about half of it is written so I’m going for a target of 30,000 words or just under 1,000 words a day (thank you July 31st!).
April was heavy – a draining but rewarding experience – but now I feel ready to go again. To finish the first draft in just over half a year would be amazing and the NaNo experience has played a major part in that.
